Healing Options

If you’re here, you’re most likely experiencing intense death grief.

(If you’d like a quick online assessment of your grief intensity, you can click here to take this brief quiz.)

Sudden Death Grief

Perhaps it’s sudden death grief. Have you lost someone to:

♦ Heart attack?
♦ Aneurysm?
♦ Accident?
♦ Violence?
♦ Pandemic?

If so, you’re grief may be so abrupt…

So biting…

So confounding & bewildering…

That it’s brought you to your knees and left choking on your pain.

The good news?

You’re in the right place now.

Disenfranchised Grief

Perhaps you’re suffering through disenfranchised grief.

Have you lost a/an…

♦ Pet?
♦ Secret lover?
♦ Ex-partner?
♦ Mentor?
♦ Abuser?
♦ Incarcerated loved one?

Perhaps someone to…

♦ Suicide?
♦ Overdose?
♦ Humiliating death?

Is your grief tearing you up, yet there’s nowhere to turn?

No one to confide in?

No one that understands?

Are you experiencing shame?

Does the world make you feel weak and silly for your grief?

» “It was just an animal!”

» “He was never any good for you anyway!”

» “You haven’t seen her in, like, 20 years!”

» “What did you think was going to happen?!”

If so, you’re in the right place now.

Prolonged Grief

Perhaps you’re enduring prolonged grief.

Do you feel as though a part of you has died with the deceased?

Maybe you’re in total disbelief about the death, even months (or years) after it took place?

You might feel extreme sorrow or anger.

Or avoid reminders of the deceased.

Or perhaps you now experience profound loneliness, even isolation.

And all of this has been going on for a loooooong time.

If so, you’re in the right place now.

Your Solution

My name’s Nelson Pahl. I’m a narrative psychologist that specializes in helping people…

Just. Like. You.

I do so via a unique mix of narrative & expressive arts tactics that allows us—you and me—to heal your grief in relatively short order.

I’m not cheap.

I don’t offer many weekly time slots.

And I only work with people that truly want to heal.

Yet…

I’m really good at what I do.

And what I do is help people like you:

♦ Make meaning of your loss
♦ Bridge the void
♦ Mend the heartache
♦ And find real closure

I do so discretely.

I do so with respect.

And I do so from a client-centric perspective.

In fact, I so believe in the power of what you and I can accomplish together that I offer a full money-back guarantee to go along with those “healthy” fees.

Meaning, if you order one of my 7-session healing packages…

And at the end of our time together, you don’t feel you’ve experienced significant healing…

Just request a refund, and you shall receive.

Why Time with Me is Different

Perhaps you simply want someone to listen to you.

Or to be in a place where there’s a shared voice, and the emphasis isn’t on healing, per se, but instead on “navigating the five stages.”

If so, I’m not the person for you.

And, truth be told, there’s a plethora of grief support groups that probably suit you better.

However, if you’re someone that’s tired of the “grief process”…

And you’re aching for relief…

For understanding…

You crave acceptance and real closure…

And you’re willing to put in the work to actually heal…

Then you, no doubt, want to work with me.

In fact, think of me as your potential “3C”:

♦ Your counselor
♦ Your coach
♦ Your confidant

(You can read an FAQ about my practice here.)

How We Work Together

So, how can you work with me?

Well, there are a number of options, actually.

In-Office

My private practice office is located at the Arbor Vitae Wellness Center in Kansas City’s eclectic Waldo neighborhood. It’s here—amid this charming “village” of acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, estheticians, life coaches, and yogis—that I see a handful of clients every Monday evening and Wednesday morning/afternoon.

You’ll find me in Suite 6, just past the Green Room and around the corner from Floating KC.

You can learn more about this service here.

House Calls

Yes, I actually go “old school” one day each week and carry out house calls. Meaning, I come to you, and you get to experience the session in the comfort of your own home.

How 1950s, huh? 😉

I offer house calls each Tuesday and, of course, only travel to certain KC area neighborhoods. But the list does include almost two dozen such neighborhoods, so…

Virtual Sessions

For anyone interested in working with me yet not located in the greater KC metro area, I offer virtual sessions; literally, you can be anywhere in the world and still partake in this option.

These sessions are carried out by way of TheraPlatform, a video chat service that requires no download. Instead, you simply click on an email link, and we’re face to face, in a virtual session room.

Here, we can also share session notes, exercise recaps, worksheets, infographics, research, video, and audio files.

I offer a handful of virtual sessions each Monday morning/afternoon and Wednesday evening.

Healing Suites

Some people desperately want therapeuticeutic-grade healing…

Yet remain leery of therapy itself.

That’s cool. I get it.

And, I have a solution.

I’ve created a therapeutic-grade, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) option to counseling. It’s a collection of interactive eCourses that mimic my therapy roadmap; these are precisely the same tactics I use with clients during in-office, house call, and virtual sessions.

You can work through these courses singularly. Or, you can delve into a bundled option I call “Grief Therapy in a Box.”

Virtual Workshops

This is something presently in the works.

But I’m excited about its epic potential.

While grief is typically a very private matter…

Imagine a 6-hour Saturday “intensive” in which you run through several of my in-office exercises…

And retain the option to share your grief story with other, like-minded workshop attendees!

Can you imagine the power of “comparing notes” after each 45-minute exercise?!

I’ll post more information on this option as it develops.

Free Resources

I’d imagine you’d like to get to know me and my work a bit better before committing to much.

Thus, I offer you a list of free resources authored by me:

⇒ Articles
⇒ Podcasts
⇒ Worksheets
⇒ Quizzes
⇒ Research

In Conclusion

I could give you a vat full of research that tells you all the reasons you want to heal your grief, before it permanently harms your health.

But my guess is you already know as much.

And that’s why you’re here.

Naturally, as a practicing psychologist, I believe some type of therapeutic-grade endeavor is your best option to heal.

But if you’re just not yet ready for that experience, feel free to take advantage of all the free information and resources on this site.

I wish you well on your healing journey.

Until next time…
